A perfect day at The Warren Estate
“What can I say, we knew they'd be amazing because we picked you as a photographer based on the photos you had done for other weddings. And we were right, they were amazing. There's a perfect mix of candid shots and more formal ones. The way you've composed and edited the shots really show the magical feeling that we both experienced on the day - and we can't wait to have them printed so we can put them proudly on our wall! Other than that, all we can say is thank you for doing an amazing job - you obviously know your craft.”
The kindest words from the lovely Lydia and Jordan! I’m revisiting this couple’s gorgeous wedding at The Warren Estate in Essex on the blog today and I can honestly say that I’ll never tire of sharing snaps from their special day with you.
How He Proposed
“We had visited Edinburgh a couple of times before, and it's one of our favourite cities - especially the views out over the city and the Forth Estuary from Arthur's Seat and Salisbury Crags. I had the option of proposing at the Eiffel tower when I took her there for dinner for our anniversary, but thought it would be too expected and I wanted to really surprise her - so we did it on Salisbury Crags in Edinburgh. I was taking photos of the scenery, asked her to turn around so I can take an 'action shot' of her looking into the distance - and when she turned around, I was on one knee. The rest is history. And I genuinely can't remember the words that came out my mouth, as the moment she turned around I completely lost them in my head and had to improvise.”
What He Loves About Lydia
“That’s always a tough one to answer, as there's a lot of loveable things about her. But the way she smiles, how affectionate she is, and her perfect blend of maturity and fun-loving nature really make her an amazing person.”
This charming wedding venue offers the most beautiful space for an outdoor ceremony, so it’s no wonder Lydia and Jordan took the opportunity to say, ‘I Do’ in the sunshine. Surrounded by manicured gardens, The Oak Pavilion features a pathway with rustic oak benches and countryside views.
Jordan explains, “It was stunning, we knew when we got there this was the place for us (well I knew when I saw how excited Lydia was). The grounds are really lovely, and the buildings themselves are really well done both internally and externally. There are spaces which are more intimate as well as bigger spaces for the dance floor and party. The food was also amazing. Seriously, people still talk about the food three months later - the beef wellington was spectacular. The people running the venue were also amazing, they had plenty of back up plans if things ever went behind schedule or went wrong, so you know you're in safe hands with these guys.”
The beautiful bride-to-be did her own make-up, wearing an amazing dress by Essence of Australia from The Wedding Shop in Colchester. Gorgeous florals were created by C Taylor’s Floristry, with a show-stopping archway designed by Belisima Flowers. They also used dainty sprigs of lavender for their place settings, which provided a super subtle fragrance throughout their reception. Rich purples, pale lilac and soft ivory hues worked together to create the perfect wedding colour scheme for their day at The Warren Estate.
Lydia and Jordan’s wedding day was overflowing with gorgeous details, including an unplugged ceremony (a photographer’s dream), a doughnut tower for part of their wedding cake table, little jars of jam as favours and significant places for their table names. As a wedding photographer, I love nothing more than capturing the truly thoughtful details on camera, so that you can remember every element of your celebration, no matter how big or little the detail may be!
Thank you to the newlyweds for choosing me to capture your love story; the pleasure was all mine.
